On the Town
Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly hit the Big Apple.
Sinatra and irrepressible hoofer Gene Kelly team up for great song and dance routines in this marvellously cheery movie about sailors on leave in New York.
Under contract to MGM, the home of the Arthur Freed Musical Unit, Sinatra had an up-and-down time; but everything came good in what would prove to be his final effort in that studio. Re-teaming him with irrepressible hoofer Gene Kelly, after their earlier Anchors Aweigh, this marvelously cheery movie about sailors on leave in New York has great song and dance routines and sparkling real-life locales in the Big Apple itself.
