This performance of silent jewel heist classic The Rat starring Ivor Novello, features the rapier wit of compere David Piper, and glittering performances by the Lady Greys and the Bees Knees. Fancy dress is more than encouraged, and lest you be without, last minute additions will be available. Then from 20:00 drift into our free re-creation of the Parisian underworld, as we'll be transforming the benugo bar into 'The White Coffin Club' - where absinthe and abandon abound! Dance until late (2:00) and dress to kill - there will be prizes for those best turned out in 20s gorgeousness, courtesy of Radio Days.

Ivor Novello plays Pierre Boucheron, the Rat, in this tale of the Paris underworld. A jewel thief who commands the allegiance of the denizens of the White Coffin Club, he meets his match in Zelie de Chaumet, the dazzling demi-mondaine who is also accustomed to dog-like obedience. With style written right through it, from the opulent string of pearls that she dangles before him, to the flick knife with which he slits his partner's skirt in the brutal apache dance, The Rat is quintessentially twenties.
