Preview: The Girlfriend Experience + Q&A with Sasha Grey

As in earlier films like Sex, Lies and Videotape and Bubble, Steven Soderbergh shows just how much can be achieved on a low budget and with a cast of mostly non-professional actors. Against the backdrop of the 2008 US presidential race and the onset of the financial crisis, Sasha Grey plays a New York call-girl who offers her clientele a full 'girlfriend experience'. With a steady boyfriend and a growing professional reputation she appears to be a successful business woman. But life isn't always that simple... Soderbergh explores a world where relationships and bodies are commodified and the cold realities of the free-market economy and the struggle for a genuine private identity are inescapably intertwined.
