Edward Scissorhands
Johnny Depp stars in Burton’s magical modern-day fairytale romance.
Johnny Depp is enormously affecting as the outsider with blades for hands, lost in Tim Burton’s pastel-coloured vision of Suburbia. Showing alongside Burton’s stop-motion ode to Vincent Price.
Edward Scissorhands
A magical modern-day fairy-tale romance and another reinterpretation of Frankenstein, based on a drawing dating back to Burton's teenage years, with his childhood hero Vincent Price as the kindly old inventor who dies before finishing his latest creation (Depp), leaving him alone and with blades for hands. Burton's pastel-coloured vision of suburbia is a thing of joy, while Johnny Depp, in the first of his six Burton roles thus far, brings enormous pathos to a near-silent role.
Vincent
VideoBurton's first professional short, made while he was at Disney, is a strikingly poetic, Caligari-esque stop-motion ode to Vincent Price, who narrates, and to Edgar Allen Poe.
