Planet Terror

The severing of the Tarantino/Rodriguez Grindhouse project may have left some grumbling, but the two films released here as a result of it are a blast. Following Tarantino's Death Proof comes Rodriguez's gory portion, which tracks a number of characters in the course of one suburban evening, when a dubious exchange between a testicle-chomping mercenary and the US military results in an army of flesh-eating zombies descending on town. It's unlucky for go-go dancer Cherry Darling (Rose McGowan), who was making her getaway before she bumped into her ex, El Ray (Freddy Rodríguez). It's no better for sinister Dr William Block (Josh Brolin), feuding with his anaesthesiologist wife Dakota (Marley Shelton) as 'sickos' begin to arrive at their hospital. Meanwhile, JT Hague (Jeff Fahey) runs The Bone Shack and is trying to perfect his recipe for barbecue sauce, but when Sheriff Hague (Michael Biehn), the brother he loathes, seeks refuge at the restaurant with a number of the unaffected, his priorities change and the place becomes a magnet for the undead.
