Redemption (Irapada)

Award-winning Nigerian film

Redemption

Dewunmi is a young, successful building contractor living happily with his wife in northern Nigeria. His foster mother pays him an unexpected visit and tries to convince 'civilised and educated' Dewunmi to perform a traditional redemption rite against a mysterious tragedy premised in her recurring nightmares.

Her appeals fail, until the unexplainable befalls Dewunmi, tearing his world apart. Desperate for answers and determined to get to the bottom of this presumed 'spell', he embarks on an investigation.

Winner of the Best Indigenous Film at the African Academy Awards 2006, Redemption and expertly realised.
