We welcome acclaimed writer/director Paul Haggis (Crash, Million Dollar Baby) to the BFI Southbank stage for an interview hosted by Mark Lawson, following a screening of his latest film, In the Valley of Elah.
In the Valley of Elah
Based on true events, this is the story of Hank Deerfield (Tommy Lee Jones) and his journey inside the veil of secrecy that cloaks the armed forces in order to find his missing son. With the reluctant help of Emily Sanders (Charlize Theron), a police detective, Hank’s investigation takes him right into the darkness of modern warfare.
Paul Haggis is one of contemporary cinema's most celebrated filmmakers. His directorial debut Crash (2004) won both Best Picture and Original Screenplay Oscars, and he has won considerable critical praise for his screenplays, which include Milion Dollar Baby (2004) and Casino Royale (2006).
