Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloweentown, decides to take over Santa’s duties in this enchanting, eye-poppingly inventive fantasy, based on a poem by Tim Burton.
Based on a poem Burton wrote directly after shooting Vincent, this eye-poppingly inventive stop-motion fantasy waited almost a decade to find a studio backer. Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloweentown, discovers a doorway into Christmastown and, suitably enchanted, decides to supplant Santa for the upcoming festivities. Committed to directing Batman Returns, Burton entrusted the on-set duties to Henry Selick, a former Disney colleague, although his stamp is evident in every frame and character.
