Case study

BFI partner with Dove and World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts on training for the Young Women’s Advocacy Forum

In the summer of 2020, 15 young women with no filmmaking experience came together to share their thoughts and ideas on advocacy using the medium of film. As part of the Young Women’s Advocacy Forum, the BFI delivered an intensive 2-week online training programme.

While developing valuable and transferable filmmaking skills, they collaborated in conceiving, writing, shooting and editing a moving and remarkable group short film, alongside independent campaigns focused on their own passions and areas of interest for their advocacy work.

Delivering training online gave them the unique experience of working with other Girl Guides from across Europe, Africa and America. On the project’s influence, one participant, Chifundo, said, “It has really impacted my life. It has given me an opportunity to view things in a different perspective.”

This bespoke programme was developed for the World Wide Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts with support from Dove.
