A blind man and a little girl are begging. The child begs from two rough-looking men, one of whom strikes her to the ground. He drops a letter at the same time in which the child reads of a burglary they are planning to commit. She gives the letter to her father and tells him to take it to the police. She follows the burglars, leaving chalk marks to show where she has gone. She enters a house and finds the men engaged in their nefarious tasks and the owner of the house, an old man, insensible on the floor. She locks the burglars in the room and they proceed to smash the upper incomplete.
