Musical comedy drama. A bookie called 'Numbers' Foster is being pursued by the police for racketeering. On a long drive he gets lost and and in a small hillbilly town he encounters newly orphaned young lady Emily Ann, who saves him from a gun-toting local. Foster takes her to New York, where he plans to use her talent for singing and dancing in showbusiness, much to the dismay of his girlfriend Yvonne. He does not foresee how Emily Ann's innocence and honesty will affect him. As a big court investigation approaches, he plans to flee the city, but Emily Ann urges him to do his time in prison and lead a reformed life.
