Plain Man's Guide to Advertising (1962)

Film details

A man enters a cinema and sits watching an advert for "Crunch Puffs" whilst eating an iced-lolly. The ad turns increasingly absurd, ending in an explosion cuing a rapid montage of ironic advertising images, followed by the opening credits. The remainder of the film mixes animation, stock footage and other scenes spoofing commercials, sponsored films, and exposés of advertising. The man in the audience interacts with the screen and the voiceover, arguing for them to get on with it and ridiculing the quality of the adverts.
