TV documentary on the preparations and ceremonial battles that led up to the coronation of the new king of the Shilluk. The Shilluk, who live on the banks of the Nile in the Southern Sudan, have chosen a new king. The elaborate ceremonies and the beliefs surrounding his installation are combined with an examination of the Shilluk conception of monarchy and the role of the king or 'reff' in the day-to-day government of Sudan.
