Synopsis

Primitive men developed the first wind instruments made of bamboo, bone or wood. The Ancient Greeks later played pan pipes. This programme deals with what happened afterwards. Includes music played by the Early Music Consort of London at Ordsall Hall, Salford. The players include Andrew van der Beek, Oliver Brookes, David Corkhill (percussion), Alan Lumsden, Nigel North (lutes etc), Elizabeth Page, David Pugsley, John Turner and James Tyler.
