Documantary series about European composers Haydn, Monteverdi Liszt and composer s of the court of Louis XIV Liszt served at the court of the Archduke of Weimar from 1848 to 1859, his compositions there including the 'Symphonic Poems', the 'Faust Symphony' and transcriptions of a number of operas for the piano. Filmed at locations in Weimar, East Germany. Performances are by the English Chamber Orchestra, the Weimar Orchestra and the pianist David Wilde.
