The Italian Connection (1985)

Film details

The social season is well underway in Tilling with the success of Lucia's charity tea-party. However, she and Georgie have to think up a plan quickly when their friends' belief in their ability to speak and understand Italian is threatened by a visit from Mr. Wyse's sister, the Contessa di Faraglione from Italy. Lucia pretends to have flu and packs Georgie off to the coast, however, she is spotted in her garden by Miss Mapp from the Church tower. Miss Mapp's revelations are deflated by the arrival of a letter in perfect Italian, ostensibly written by Lucia to the Countess, which Georgie obtained from a young girl he met on holiday whose mother asked him for an idea for an Italian excerise.
