Synopsis

Documentary of a discussion between steel workers and union officials that analyses the effect of the steel industry strike during winter of 1980, on the steel industry and on those other industries that relied on a supply of steel. Workers discuss their feelings about what happened and about the level of union support. Filmed in Sheffield, May 1980.

[Tx. of 13/08/1981 includes a 12 minute studio discussion featuring union leaders Bill Sirs (Steelworkers' Union General Secretary), George Wright (Welsh TUC General Secretary) and two workers who participated in the original film; British Leyland car worker Alan Thornett, and South Yorkshire steelworker Bernard Connolly].
