Synopsis

Documentary report that examines the state of public awareness about the link between the sun and skin cancer. Rona Mackie, Professor of Dermatology at Glasgow University says "a tan is a sign that the skin has been damaged and is trying to protect itself further". Features a story about the death of Australian teenager Mark Marcelis who died of malignant Melanoma, a skin cancer triggered by sunbathing. A public awareness campaign has been undertaken in Britain to highlight the dangers of too much sun.

NOTE: This was the last programme presented by Jonathan Dimbleby, before leaving Thames for the BBC.
