Synopsis

Documentary by Werner Herzog on the Wodaabe tribe and people who live on the Southern edge of the Sahara, looking at their attitudes and rituals, which include a ceremony in which the men make themselves up with startling make-up to accentuate the whiteness of their eyes and teeth, and adorn themselves with various beads and costumes in an attempt to attract young women who choose the most beautiful man and then disappear for a few nights into the bush with the man of their choice.
