Synopsis

GEORGE SOROS is the reclusive multi-millionaire who runs the phenomenally successful Quantam Fund based in New York. His speculation on the currency markets on "Black Wednesday" helped to devalue sterling and cause drastic changes in the government's economic strategy. Most of the money he makes goes to the newly independent countries of east Europe. He funds the new Central European University in Prague, and Yugoslavian and Russian science. Though unpopular as a liberal, a Jew and a Hungarian, with eastern right-wingers, he is supported by eastern heads of state,
