Reveals the connection between the infamous Grateful Dead rock band in America and some of Britain's most talented - and neglected - orchestral composers. Through the band's Rex Foundation, grants have been given to British symphonists and composers ignored or rejected in their homeland. The Foundation has helped to fund the complete recordings of Havergal Brian's 32 symphonies, orchestral works by Robert Simpson and the neglected masterworks of the late Bernard Stevens. Several young musicians including Michael Finnissy, Chris Dench and Richard Barrett have also been given support for their compositions.
