Synopsis

Trevor Phillips chairs a discussion on issues raised in the course. Taking part are: Yasmin Alibhai-Brown, writer/journalist; Maud Blair, course chairperson; Paul Gilroy, writer/lecturer, University of London; Paul Gordon, Senior Research Office, Runnymede Trust; Iram Siraj-Blatchford, lecturer, University of Warwick; and academic consultant Barbara Mayor. After discussing some of the recent statistical evidence on racism, the discussion moves on to how to combat the situation, the efficacy of anti-racist tactics and what anti-racism is. Finally, Europe is considered and the opportunity a new European community gives for establishing new identities.
