Synopsis

Second of two programmes in which six two-man teams compete in the most challenging winter sports competition ever staged. Situated around the Norwegian town of Tromso, 300 miles inside the Arctic Circle, the teams from Britain, Canada, America, Norway, Holland and Finland, endure the final four events. The `Superathlon' combines biathlon with a course of obstacles and tests. In the `Relay', the contestants ski their way along a slalom and down hill course. The next day, after sleeping the night in snow holes they built, the 6 teams attempt the `Ice Climb' - ascending a sheer ice wall with only axes and crampons. The final challenge is the `Mountain Race' which takes place on a 5,000ft mountain.
