Across the Sea of Time (1995)

Film details

Arriving in New York harbour, eleven-year-old Russian boy, Tomas, jumps ship and swims to the Statue of Liberty bearing old photographs sent to his family many years before by an immigrant relative who found work in New York as a stereoptican photographer. Searching for clues to his relative's fate, Tomas visits a range of New York sights, with present day scenes intercut with the monochrome version of 3-D portraying the city of the past. Glass-plate negatives of the 'stereoviews' were located at California University's Museum of Photography and transferred to Imax 3-D.
