Synopsis

In the final programme of the current series, THE PULSE looks at controversial health economist, Alan Maynard, who puts forward his formula for the hard-line prioritisation of NHS resources based on a combination of clinical and cost effectiveness. The programme reveals the findings of a research paper that accuses the Government of manipulating its own rationing formula in order to favour Conservative constituencies. Features contributions from Multiple Sclerosis sufferer Anne Mote, who believes that she is being denied a powerful new drug purely on the basis of cost.
