Talks to the scientists planning a pioneering and controversial operation involving the transplanting of the heart of a genetically-altered pig into a human patient. The heart was to come from a herd of pigs that had been bred with human genes inside them. Some scientists and doctors see animals as the answer to the shortage of human organs for transplant. Other people regard the use of animals for spare parts as morally unacceptable or potentially dangerous, raising the fear of animal viruses spreading to humans.
