Miss Evers' Boys (1997)

Docudrama about nurse Eunice Evers working at Alabama's Tuskegee Hospital in 1932 assisting Dr. Brodus who is caring for poor black men stricken with syphilis. A white doctor brings with him a fully funded programme offering free treatment but finally Washington informs him that the funding has dried up. Instead they will fund a study of the syphlitic African-American men but the men will get no treatment. Hoping this will change Brodus and Evers agree but finally realise the fraud that has been perpetrated when the disease has run its course and all the men die.
