Synopsis

The sixth programme in the series which began in 1964 with `7 Up' and traces the development of the same diverse group of individuals from childhood through to adulthood. The participants are now 42 years-old. In two parts, the first features Tony the taxi driver who had hoped to be a jockey; Susie a boarder at seven, now a bereavement counsellor; Symon who started out in a children's home; Andrew who was at a smart prep school, now a lawyer; and Nick the son of a Yorkshire farmer now working on nuclear fusion in America. Part two features Bruce who was also at boarding school because his parents were abroad, now a teacher; Jackie and her friends Lynn and Sue, with their families and problems; Paul who was also in a children's home and emigrated to Australia; and Neil who had mental health problems, now working for the Liberal Democrats in London.
