Synopsis

Drama. An interpretation of an epic poem which focuses on the partitioning of the area of Poland-Lithuania, an immense area, at the end of the eighteenth century. The Poles looked to Napoleon and his armies to restore Polish sovereignty once he had defeated Russia. To this end, 90,000 Poles joined the French army which reached as far as Moscow before suffering defeat. In particular, the narrative is centred upon two families on opposing sides of the conflict: the Soplica family, supporting Russia, and the Horeszkos, who want independence.
