A Reasonable Man (1999)

Film details

Drama. Sean Raine, a lawyer, and his wife are canoeing in South Africa when they meet a young boy, Sipho. While travelling on their way home, they stop at a nearby village and find the boy standing silently with an bloodstained axe in his hand, and a woman holding her dead baby, which has obviously been savagely attacked. Raine decides he wishes to represent the boy in court, whose defence is that he was killing not a human baby but an evil spirit. Based on an actual court case from 1933.
