The third programme in a six-part series on the human body. Examines the human body's capacity for regenerating itself, an ability which diminishes as we get older, but which is particularly strong in foetuses. Looks at how modern medicine is seeking to tap into the power of the embryo to discover genes that promote this process so they can be reactivated to create new cells and organs. Even delicate tissues such as spinal cords and brain cells can be regrown with the use of neural stem cells.
