Synopsis

The final programme in a six-part history of the Renaissance. Examines the circumstances that led to the end of the Renaissance, proposing that it did not so much end, as fade away. Also analyses modern culture, including 20th cinema, for traces of its legacy. Artists whose work is featured include: Brueghel, Cellini, Michelangelo, Pontormo and van Eyck.
