Mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety are increasingly prevalent among young people in the UK, and at their most extreme can kill. Yet, much can be done to stop things reaching such desperate and tragic ends. Friend, families and colleagues can really help. This progranmme designed for PHSE studies, challenges the stigma of owning up to mental health problems, profiling three attractive, successful young people who have suffered and conquered mental illness. Their stories prove that having a mental health problem isn't the end of the world, and can even lead to personal growth. Their ultimate success is a testament to the importance of articulating emotions and the value of friendship.
