Synopsis

Set in 1979 with flashbacks to 1947, during the Partition, the story of a Pakistani village taken over by Islamic extremists, focusing on one woman, Ayesha who was abducted by Muslims. Now, a widow and living in Charkhi, with her son Saleem, Ayesha is uncomfortable with her son's involvement with Islamic zealots. One day, the arrival of Sikh pilgrims from the other side arrive in the village. They have been permitted to visit their holy shrine. One of them, Jaswant is also on a mission to trace his sister Veero who had been lost during the conflict. He hopes to take her to visit their dying father in Amritsar.
