The Mark of Cain (2007)

Film details

Set in 2003, during the war in Iraq. Two eighteen-year-old soldiers, friends Shane and Mark, are sent out to Basra, Iraq on their first tour of duty, and are gradually drawn in and desensitised to the everyday violence and revenge beatings. Shane takes photographs of some of the events, as trophies and souvenirs, and a resentful ex-girlfriend tips off the police about them. Shane and Mark find that people back home are shocked by the pictures and they are arrested and charged with assaulting detainees.
