Synopsis

Family drama. Raisaheb Amarnath Kapoor, a businessman, neglects his family. His wife dies, leaving their only son Vicky to the care of her husband's best friend Munshi Phoolchand (Munshiji). Vicky grows up an angry young man, despising his father's wealth and loses himself in poetry and drink. Munshiji cares for and watches over him as Vicky, known to all as a sharaabi (drunkard) with a big heart stumbles through life, eventually falling in love with Meena, a dancer. His father does not approve and tries to pressure him to marry one of his partners' daughters. Vicky refuses, is disinherited and leaves the house with Munshiji, taking to the streets. Tragedy strikes when Munshiji dies and Vicky's father's partners try to assassinate Meena. Finally Raisaheb Amarnath Kapoor's eyes are opened when he discovers that his business partners have robbed him and Vicky comes to his rescue.
