Introduction

Accomplished actress Nandita Das directs her debut feature – the politically daring Firaaq, one of only two features about the Gujarat genocide of 2002. Das’ film is a deeply moving exploration of its aftermath. A Muslim singer, the gentle wife of a Hindu right-winger, a man of mixed parentage, a man whose home is burnt, and an orphan child nervously ponder their future.
