The Crow Trap (2011)

Film details

Synopsis

Anne Preece discovers the body of Bella Furness in a barn on the isolated cottage she is living in. Preece is conducting an 'impact assessment' on the area before the proposed development of a new quarry. DCI Vera Stanhope suspects that the Bella's objection to the quarry development may be a possible motive. When Anne Preece reports a suspicious woman near the cottage the woman turns out to be Bev Macdonald, the mother of a 5 year old child who went missing over 10 years ago. Stanhope was involved in the investigation and Bella Furness was a possible suspect in the case. In a conversation with Bella's husband, Dougie Furness, the DCI discovers Bella had changed her mind about the quarry and was proposing to sell her farm. DS Ashworth is concerned about his wife when he discovers his young children alone at home. The investigation uncovers secrets on both sides of the quarry dispute. Grace Bishop is found murdered at the old quarry and the detectives suspect the same murderer. The detectives realise that Anne Preece may be in danger as she is about to publish the result of her survey. Concluding the case the DCI also discovers the fate of Bev Macdonald's missing child.
