Film details

Synopsis

One family in five has someone close to it affected by mental disorder. Many more have friends suffering from mental illness. To shut one’s mind to such a subject is easy. This is a problem, however, that we are learning to face. Tonight, viewers will see the subject of mental illness examined with truth and honesty, as well as with compassion. The people nearest to the problem - patients, ex-patients and relatives - will be among those who will tell their stories.

With Robin Day, Elaine Grand and Brian Inglis.

The programme was compiled with the help of: The National Association for Mental Health, superintendents, staff and patients of mental hospitals in Yorkshire, Lancashire, Cheshire, Nottinghamshire, Middlesex, Surrey and Sussex.
