Glaswegian Ritchie sets off for the Highlands where he works at a conservation centre while also acting as an illegal pearl fisher. He meets and falls for Beth, an English conservationist campaigning to save endangered mussels and has to fight off the unwanted attention of Glaswegian gangster Gavin who is trying to find a way in to the lucrative pearl fishing trade.
