Synopsis

Siri wakes to find herself trapped inside a pastel-coloured hyperreal beauty clinic where surveillance, violence and submission are a normalised part of daily life. The clinic is presided over by Figurehead, an authoritarian pedagogue who speaks with the voice of Kenneth Clark from the 1960s BBC television series ‘Civilisation’ and who is intent on educating her girls on art's construction of female beauty. Figurehead is attempting a high-tech remodelling of all feminine imperfection and forces the women to go head-to-head in a series of demeaning tasks. Siri is initially willing to please but with the help of fellow inmate Alexa, she starts subverting the rules and soon reveals the sinister truth that underpins their world.
