No silents (though 2001: A Space Odyssey comes close); no documentaries (unless Sans Soleil counts); no Lynch, no Bresson, no Tati, no Ray (either of them), no Kurosawa (either of them), no Hitchcock; no Hou. Also no chance I’ll look back on this list in ten years – or ten minutes – and feel at all confident about my choices. But I do love all of these movies.
