In the summer of 1994, Gene and his small gang of theatre-loving pals get together for one final murder mystery party before they leave for college the next morning. With a mutual flair for the dramatic, emotions always run high amongst this ostentatious group, although tonight’s third act looks set to be particularly explosive as Gene has a secret he needs to share with his conservative friends. But when the spotlight comes on, will our leading man be able to deliver his lines? With his deliriously enjoyable and sweetly affecting teen movie, debut director Jonathan Wysocki has crafted a loving homage to drama nerds and adolescent outsiders, which proves that even for the most dedicated thespian being your authentic self is the hardest role you’ll ever have to play.
