The Normal Heart’s John Benjamin Hickey plays Michael, a New York Times travel writer who takes on a rental apartment for a week’s assignment to discover the real Tel Aviv. Stunning newcomer Niv Nissim plays the apartment’s owner Tomer, who has mixed up the dates and is reduced to sleeping on his own sofa. A freewheeling, ambitious, mixed-up young man whose love of marijuana and sex seems a world away from Michael’s, Tomer nevertheless offers to guide Michael around the city and they soon find they have more in common than they thought. This deft comedy of manners and morals reveals much about attitudes to love, life and sex between two different generations of gay men.
