Senior Librarian for Reader and Mediatheque Services
Sarah Currant was awarded an MSc in Information Management in 2002 and joined the BFI as Reading Room Librarian in 2005 from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Library. She became Reader Services Librarian in 2011, which expanded her remit within the library team. As of July 2018, Sarah is Senior Librarian for Reader and Mediatheque Services and is responsible for managing user services through the library’s reading room, as well as assisting in the delivery of digital research services via the Mediatheque at BFI Southbank.
As well as overseeing the day-to-day running of the reading room, and the provision of access to library materials, Sarah delivers a year-round programme of study visits, inductions and bespoke tours for students and academics from the UK and internationally. With the assistance of the Reader Services team, Sarah also oversees the programme of Collections Focus displays in the reading room, the digital document supply service, and handles a wide variety of enquiries from researchers about all areas of the BFI’s vast collections.
