The BFI preserves more than 1.4 million still images featuring on- and off-screen moments, portraits of cinema’s most iconic names, as well as images of studios, cinemas, special events, technology and pre-cinema. The collection is one of the most extensive in the world.
Searching the collections
Search the BFI’s collections database to find out what images – as well as films, television programmes, scripts, books and journals – we hold.
Licensing stills
BFI archive sales can supply copies of images for use in most projects subject to copyright clearance.
We unfortunately cannot offer a physical reproduction service.
For further information and digital access fees, complete our film stills enquiry form with an outline of your project or publication.
