Collections Care Manager
Rob’s career began in the archives of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, where he was employed for three years as Archives Assistant before undertaking an MA in Film Archiving at the University of East Anglia, Norwich.
He joined the BFI in 2007, working with the team at Gaydon as a Conservator on a multi-year project to review and replace film cans as required for tens of thousands of reels of nitrate film.
Becoming Vaults Manager, he was responsible for the care and safety of the collections stored at the 21-acre Gaydon site, in addition to managing a team of dedicated Vaults and Conservation Technicians. Rob and his team had a pivotal role in the preparation and relocation in 2011 of 330,000 plus film cans into the then newly constructed Master Film Store.
After achieving an MA in Archive Administration at Aberystwyth University, Rob is now based at the Conservation Centre as Collections Care Manager.
