LFF Expanded 2022

Final deadline for receipt of online submissions (including works)

  • Monday 15 May 2023, 17.00 (BST)

LFF Expanded, the BFI London Film Festival’s strand for Immersive Art and Extended Realities (XR), aims to explore and transform the way we experience art and moving image through innovative forms of immersive media like virtual, augmented and mixed reality. Using cinema as a jumping off point, we want to literally expand audiences’ horizons on how to experience interactive storytelling.

Since its launch in 2020, LFF Expanded has been showcasing the works of talented artists and creative teams from around the world who are working at the cutting edge of immersive storytelling, visual art and creative technology. For our fourth edition in 2023, we’re excited to once again present a selection of innovative new works from international creators with a special spotlight on UK talent.

We are looking for bold and inventive work from creators who provide a fresh perspective on our world today. LFF Expanded aims to include works pushing the boundaries of immersive storytelling through emerging formats and technologies, such as Generative AI, NFTs or human-body interfaces. We are keen to showcase work that challenges audience perceptions and shines a light on urgent political, social and cultural themes.
