A gangster (Marvin) lies wounded in the empty, abandoned Alcatraz prison, dreaming of taking revenge on the partners who betrayed him in LA. As Walker (fitting name!) returns from the dead to hunt down the culprits and the cash he’s owed, Boorman creates a modernist landscape as fragmented and fuelled by treacherous desire as the film’s headlong, oneiric narrative.
