Synopsis

Investigates the secret of Japanese commercial success and asks how it might be applied to British industry by comparing the factory operations of three television manufacturing companies - Rank Toshiba, a British company using Japanese plant and machinery, in Plymouth, National Panasonic, a Japanese company, in Cardiff and Thorn EMI, who use Japanese management methods, in Gosport. Concludes that a vital element of the successful Jaspanese model is the integration of management and workforce.
